Something a bit different

Over the last couple of days I have been making quite a number of meditation and offering bowls for the Studio 4 Gallery exhibition. When doing metal beating that has a slight production line feel to it I like to go off on a tangent and make something unrelated.

When I did my foldforming course about 9 months ago we learnt how to create simple cuff-like bracelets. I wanted to experiment to see if I could make a bracelet and ring. If these turned out OK I might consider purchasing some silver plate to see if I can make something finer.

Anyway as you can see from the photo of the pieces on the model's hand (Fiona) - both ring and bracelet turned out pretty well.

Couple more photos without the model.

The pieces were made from the zinc plated brass from the old backpack spray-pack I made the two fonts out of. I like how the ends of the bracelet are a bit leaflike

  3. those are real cool Barry! i do like the leaf end of the bracelet ... mayb it could be worn back way up ... all it needs is some added embellishments to make the back look like it's meant for the front. and i would wear that ring! it's really pretty cool!

  6. These are beautiful! They remind me of the Honeylocust tree bean pods we have here in AZ. Very organic and lovely.

  7. Who would ever have imagined that the old backpack sprayer could evolve into the treasures you have made. I love the leafy look and I'm sure they would be wonderful in silver and in those lovely soft anodised colours.

  8. M, L, LT, L V SZQ and C - I nam encouraged by your comments. Next step is to buy silver plate and try for a finer outcome - will consider some suggestions regarding what really is the front band back of pieces. Guess it is now a matter of watch this space. Go well. B

  11. T & R - I just love the fact that one can take a scrap ofdiscarded material and with a vision and a bit of heat, folding, beating and polishing it is possible to create something that is almost precious. B
