Rainbows and artist book

I guess life is like that ... I had planned to finish the pod raised bowls over the weekend; but instead I ended up focussing on finishing and artists book that I think I will apply to have included in an upcoming exhibition of artists books.

But first a couple of photos of a rainbow that came into the bedroom and shone on the small bronze statue and glass heart that sit on my bedside table. It looked to good not to capture and share.

But back to the artists book. The book below is a book of one line poems - a play on my Daily Word reflection bowls; and using one of my balancing wood and brass forms. This work is A Poem a Day. Short nature related poems to reflect on or just enjoy. Some are by poets and some are by me.

The photos are not so good - bit rushed at the end of the day. We are about to be hit by a large storm cell so must post away.

  3. Lovely, Barry, both the rainbow and the one line poem book. I hope that wasn't the storm that hit Logan, but I think you may be further down. We seem to be getting a lot of bad storms - along with all the other bad weather. Though your rainbow photos are uplifting!

  4. P, VA, V & C - thanks for checking out the rainbow and book. P - it had not occurred to me that the grain of the wood looked like pages - you are right. VA - the storm mainly missed us - did some damage in the city - lots of lightning strikes putting on a good light show up our way. V - thanks. C - as I said above most of it was south of us. The rainbows always make me smile. All - go well. B

  9. L, LT, KR & TL - thanks for checking the post out and best of all your encouragement regarding the new take on a book. L - I know glass and colour is your special talent. LT - it sure puts a new slant on saying I'll just turn a page and read a poem - beautiful to hold the metal, read, reflect and leave it for the day. KR - I'm really pleased that the Daily Words are good for you - I think it is very tangible way to just connect with the day. Hopefully the poem a day can be a bit like that but with a slightly more reflective mode rather than guidance where I see Daily Words operating. TL - thanks - bit of a tight squeeze to get some on the finger of metal. All - go well. B

  10. I am also fond of poetry, and your wooden poetry book is very special indeed...with that extra touch of natures colours. Wonderfully creative.
