Our weekend has been given over to maintenance on the block and house - lots of pressure cleaning by Fiona, weed-snipping and painting for me.
One always gets the chance to be distracted by the rust table when your doing other jobs. The rust shall be shared with Fiona - I believe it is now our rust bank.

One other job was cutting up a plank and glueing reinforcing rod into the cut down bits so they can be installed (cemented into the ground) at the Maleny Neighbourhood Centre. Lucky there was a bit of rod in the rust bank.

And go course there was the painting in the landscape - done to the sounds of calming music. Not so hard to do in the shade and with a gorgeous sky.

We visited my brother and sister-in-law in Townsville - she had lost one of the drops of a "found" bow earring - I knew they were one offs - so offered to show her a selection of other possible "found" pieces.

A very good weekend of taking steps to regain control of our block and house.
Looks like a lovely time...especially the rusty parts and the wooden sculpture. A story board for a yarning circle. As in telling yarns or working with yarn/thread? Very curious...

ReplyDeleteJ, VA and P - thanks for going us on our ordinary journey of life on the block. J - the yarning circle is 4 boomeranging bench seats around a fire pit with local totem posts. A gathering and spiritual place. The story board will tell visitors what the Yarning Circle is about. VA - I agree - there are so many ways we create including just doing good wholesome work around our patch - I know that you do just that around your house and studio. P - yes a grand weekend - as you say it has to be the right weather for it. All - go well. B

ReplyDeleteStory boards grabbed my attention too .... like Robyn I love the idea of sitting around fires in yarning circles - or at least I picture this happening around the fire at night. Beautiful. You have been busy Barry.
ReplyDeleteR and SB - thanks for your comments. R & SB - the story board will tell who made the yarning circle, what the totems mean and how the circle will be used in ceremony. I think fires are such good mediums for ceremony and just connecting people. Go well. B
ReplyDeleteI think I have rust envy, though I suppose my rust collection is rather similar. I do love rust though, and I enjoy seeing yours. The Yarning Circle is a wonderful idea.
