Finally - book earrings

Fiona and my weekend has been full with jobs on the block; and attending an artists' book exhibition in another town. There was a fibre exhibition in the same venue as the artists' book exhibition - both exhibitions are beautiful - so in the future I would like to share a few close texture shots from the day.

For an hour or so yesterday and a couple of hours today I managed to squeeze in work on micro book earrings and book pendants. Following are a few photos of the earrings drilled, riveted and polished. The earrings have love stamped on one earring and peace on the other. The are about 20mm long, 14mm wide and 6mm deep. The earrings and pendants are made from recycled silver-plated EPNS.

And a photo of the book pendants - about 35mm long and 20mm wide - one is stamped with the word wonder and the other dream.

And this is how the micro book earrings will look when assembled. I have added a gold jumping in for contrast.

I think the pair of earring above will make their way to Carol. Several pairs of the earrings will make their way into the online shop during the week.

  2. Thank you Barry, they look fabulous! Maybe you should post them and let me know costs. I'm kind of hoping to be up your way in November but not sure of dates yet. So I'd love to be wearing the earrings when I get to Maleny...

  4. I recently started following your blog via Fiona and ALAW. I think this is a brilliant idea. The small books would make great cufflinks, as well.

  5. these are fantastic, strong but dainty. i often think about you and fiona working in the same home creatively and wonder if there is crossover of ideas or themes (other than work done in the name of peace). here is a beautiful example!

  6. Hi S, VA, C, JM, S & MJ - it ia always uplifting to get visits and comments from fellow artists - thanks. S - petite cool. VA - always a variation on a theme with me. C - your earrings are wining their way to you now - enjoy. S - thanks for dropping in - cross over from Fiona is welcomed. You are right about the cuff links - don't be surprised if they pop up. MJ - you are so right about the crossover and shared themes - and Fiona's work with Celebration of the Book in Maleny was the inspiration for these cute little numbers. All - go well. B
