Progressing the patriarchy artists' book

Fiona and I had a tiring but rewarding weekend with our sale. Lots of folk visiting and lots of work sold.

There were a few quiet times so that gave us the time to progress some of our studio work. I have restarted the work on my patriarchy artists' book. The book will have three main elements: letterpress posters; stencilled overprinting; and embossed interleaves.

Just sharing some of the imagery here - including the uninvited disembodied hands reaching out to touch and grope.

Subtle embossing using the etching press - the image below is about patriarchy breeding bullies.

Quite a way to go; but progress has been made.

  1. interesting ... when I first saw the hands I imagined them to be women reaching out for help ... or joining together in solidarity to help ...

  2. LA - thanks for checking the post out - interesting take on the hands - it really is about men asserting their right to touch and fondle and assist women in small and major ways - unless +ve consent is articulated the hands are uninvited. Go well. B
