A wee rustic foible bird thingy

 

What else could you call a bird feeder-shelter that has four towers and slightly quirky roof lines?

I spent a day dismantling and de-nailing quite a bit of timber that came off the roof when it was being re-slated; and also pulling slate crates apart the timber could be recycled in various ways including as fire wood. Anyway Fiona and I noticed that the wee brown birds were using the firewood timber stack below to shelter in - so I decided to make them the bird feeder-shelter thing. It was a good job to do in the studio aka garden shed out of the rain. The timber is mainly pallet boards; but there are a few other pieces collected over time that have become roofs. The piece is in the main nailed together with recycled rusty nails; but a few screws have been added in critical places.

A couple of the foible below showing that it is gradually being used by the birds - aided of course by the fact that Fiona has started to place a few feed balls in the notches. You have to expand the photos to find the birds - 0ne in second notch from the bottom; and one sitting on the roof.

I do love the quirky nature of the piece - there are likely to be a few rusty bits added if time permits.
