Betrayal and Loss - the exhibition - the whole installation, the pieces and the opening

I'm a bit amazed that I, with a lot of support from Fiona, have pulled together the exhibition, Betrayal and Loss, in Strathnaver Museum's Annex in the  Scottish Highlands. So far from home and so many things that could have gone wrong. But as you can see from the photo above and photos below the total installation looks great as do the individual pieces. Fiona set up and photographed the pieces and props in the cabinets.

If you go to Fiona's blog post here you will get a grand understanding of some of the work that went into the set up, challenges overcome and the book and reference that inspired the work (Letter 11 by Donald McLeod in his book Gloomy Memories).

The photos below show the beautiful setting of the museum and the new annex.

As Fiona indicates in her blog post, on the opening night we donated a first edition copy of Gloomy Memories to Strathnaver Museum for the research collection - below are photos of the book displayed in the exhibition cabinet and me presenting it to Robert from the museum on Fiona's and my behalf.

A few random photos, by Karen, of me speaking and telling the story behind the exhibition pieces; my response to the injustice and brutality of the Highland Clearances, my response to McLeods Letter 11; and some of the crowd on opening night.

The photo below is of Fiona explaining one of my works (Stone Cottages) to one of the attendees - she did quite a lot of that on the night.

The exhibition is open until the end of September.
