Ready for installation

I managed to complete Faith's remaining two posts today as you can see from the photo above - and with out injuring myself.

There are some nice details on the piece as you can see from the photos below - timber and rust - way to go!!! I used pieces from a rusted small ornamental windmill gifted to Faith - in addition to my other bits. Some pieces, and the horseshoes nails, will rust more once installed in the landscape.

Another view of the two posts.

These two posts will be installed with the larger post this week all being well.

A few photos of the progression of the eclipse on Wednesday night.

And moonset on Thursday morning - behind pink sun blushed clouds

Moon and morning delights

Above is a photo of the moon taken last night at about the same time (9.15pm) as the eclipse will take place tonight -I wanted a record to see the contrast between last night and the moon tonight.

Below is a photo of a moon rainbow from Sunday night - created by the cloud - just love the cloud layering and ruffles.

Delights from the morning walk - many dew encrusted fragments; a small spider in a tiny dew clad web; wet wallaby tracks across the road; a kookaburra in flight; and grass with dew drops.

And a few of G's orchids.

Post progress

I'm back in the workshop working on the other two posts (timber monoliths) for Faith's installation. Sanding and routing grooves into the timber; and then staining the grooves with good quality black Japanese ink.

Faith wants the posts to have an aged look so the sanding is only being done to remove rubbish, rotted sections and with a coarse grit sand paper so that it adds texture to complement the saw marks left on the posts by the milling done in the paddock. Saw marks and inked groove on the shortest post - it will be about 1m out of the gravel.

Making the best use of a natural groove in the post.

Inking up the natural groove.

This is the middle sized post - it will be about 1.25m out of the gravel

I'm being a bit careful at the moment because I managed to lacerate the tip of my little finger - still healing but going well. Next week I will oil the posts and add rust; and they will be ready for installation.

Poster shop and back at the press

The pop-up poster shop at the Communities in Control Conference in Melbourne went really well - lots of opportunities to talk to folk about the issues as well as selling posters and tea-towels. A really big thank-you to Maus and the Our Community family for supporting us and enabling the shop to happen. A few photos of the setting up. Fiona and Sheila were the driving force behind it all.

It was back into Deckled Edge Press for me on Thursday and given we were heading out to a DV event that evening and after the many issues raised at the conference I felt driven to print this A5 poster; and some bookmarks with the offcuts.

Yes we need to believe women when they report violence, assault and coercive control.

Phone fragments plus moon

A few random fragments from the phone over the last few days - plus a photo taken with the Canon Powershot - a small sliver of moon.

Just sharing a few bits of beauty.
