Droplets, sunrise and other fragments

Our time at the cottage is coming to a close - we will certainly miss the quiet and often small beautiful aspects of the place; including droplets on grasses and horse hair after overnight which we see as we take our morning walk to the cove.

We are startled from time to time by a brilliant sunrise - often fleeting as the cloud cover comes in.

And of course there are small beauties to be found on our walks in the surrounding area.

Fragments from Sandside

We went for a walk around Sandside Beach and Harbour today with Fiona's dad Graham. We enjoy returning to this beach and harbour - there are always so many colours and textures in the stone, the craypots, rust, small boats etc.

And we were fortunate today in that we found a couple of hag-stones amongst the colourful sea washed stones of the small beach near the harbour.

A small bone object inspired by nature

The above small bone object was inspired by the bog plant similar to the one below.

Doing this little piece gave me the opportunity to use the recently completed "workshop" as seen in the photo below.

And another one of the completed piece below - it still requires a bit of fine sanding. It really is a piece to be held like a talisman; or simply enjoyed seen sitting on a ledge.

Postcard based on an old shed

I was very taken with the old sheds and cottages Fiona and I saw on our trip to and from Ullapool.

Fiona had bought some water colour pencils so I thought I might try to do a water colour post card of one of the old sheds - I chose the small shed at Foindle (photo above) - I love the colours, oval window and rust.

My start was quite tentative - I have not used water colour pencils before so I did not know how much one need to apply before applying the water.
