Testing possibilities - materials and tools

 

This is a brief blog post as it is simply about showing a few bits of salvaged materials cut with the a rudimentary metal die cutting tool and the recently acquired bench drill machine. 

Still when you get initial results like the punched gold plated metal in the opening photo the die cutting tool still has possibilities. Following are more photos of punched metal.


I managed to adjust the drill speed on the second hand bench drill press and used a diamond tube bit to cut disks out of pearl shell as you can see below. Some sections of the pearl shell are exceptionally thick!!!!

Following is a combination of gold plated metal and pearl shell - yet more possibilities.

During the week I hope to progress some Found and Formed Jewellery pieces from the pearl shell and the gold plated metal.
