On fire watch

Yesterday afternoon we noticed a huge plume of smoke in the direction a friend lives. When Fiona checked her fire alert app sure enough there was a fire in that area. After a discussion with our friend who was travelling back from Brisbane we did a dash out to: see what was happening, be on fire watch and be prepared to exit with stuff if needed.

We stayed until nightfall and our friend had returned home - nightfall photo above. Photo below is what caused our initial alarm.

Following photos are from our fire watch - including watching water bombing helicopters. It all looked a bit dicey at times!!!!!

As I post this blog it looks like there could be a bit of rain that will quench the fire. I took some good videos of the fire bombers but won't risk trying to upload them in this blog post.

  1. fire-fighting aircraft are a wonder, but not really what you want to watch from a ringside seat ... glad to hear both you and your friend's home are safe ... Liz A
