A few things for Friday

I'm not sure why I'm always surprised by what happens on a Friday but I am.

Today was an ordinary Friday really: walk, coffee at Monicas, paper and breakfast, coffee catch up with Ken, Noela and Caroline, shopping and mail and catch up with E-A and Carol, work-work, snake watching, finishing the COMA piece and progressing the big leaf - and now time for chilli con carne and bubbles.

As you can see from the photo above and below the Tiny Temple Gong for the next COMA exhibition ('making music') is complete.

Fiona gave me a hand to put a couple of bends in the big leaf after I had cleaned it with acid in preparation for curing.

And we had a Red Belly Black snake visiting - I will be a little more careful on the terraces.

A good ordinary creative Friday - for which I 'm grateful.

  1. The Tiny Gong looks just exquisite in its frame.
I see you are taking a whole new look at leaves - I particularly like the drop out leaf with the negative form within the large leaf - challenging work on a whole new scale. It is wonderful.

  2. Seems like a lot to pack into one day.... ! Gong looks quite elegant against the black. And the snake has a lovely undulation. Looks like it would be hard to spot against the gravel...

  3. Busy, busy, busy... Fridays, and every day it seems. Still, idle hands etc....The snake must be interested in artistic projects too.

  4. ~oh gosh...i was really holding my breath...you showed it...you really did...not so much one with snakes...i'll just leave it at that...

well me...i actually slept in till 7:00am {my norm is 3:45~4:30am} which in turn felt wonderful yet put me quite behind...then off for a root canal on a wisdom tooth to be told i have 3 more visits to go...uugghh...so how bout we trade days minus the snake...you can keep him!!!

some fancy footwork if i may say so...the leaf bends are eloquent...smooth and natural! your gong is going to please the crowd...i really like the contrast of the blue background with the metal...a job well done my friend...much love light and blessings~

  6. S/R, VA, JM, B, & V - it was a full but enjoyable Friday. B - glad I did not have to fit root canal work in there - yikes! S/R - I love the drop out leaf form - gives both the positive and negative space - and to overlay them creates an interesting tension? VA - I had seen the snake before I photographed the leaf - I just couldn't resist posting them together - both undulating. JM - not sure it was ready to pose. V- glad the tiny gong grew on you. The snake is quite poisonous - but not our worst - and I is timid and territorial so does stay away from humans but keeps the badges away (we hope). Go well. B

  9. Oh wow. Thank you for sharing this process, I really enjoy the way you used your physical bodies to aid in forming metal!

  10. LT, L & MFM - thanks for comments - the primitive hands on approach gives the work a little more of my person - and a little more individuality. And as fellow creatives I'm sure we all like the getting down and dirty part with our art . Create well and enjoy. B

  11. Nice snake. I'm sure it will try to avoid you as you will avoid it. The gong is very beautiful.
