All up in the air

©2020 Barry Smith - The other four balloons in our group firing up - about ready to launch
Fiona and I spent the weekend in Canberra celebrating her da's 80th birthday. The celebrations included an early morning hot air ballon ride for the 8 of us.

Quite an amazing experience - a first for her dad and most of the rest of us. A few photos from the preparations.

Floating - looking down

And a couple showing the landing technique experienced first hand by us.

©2020 Barry Smith - Landing - note the drag marks of the basket - basically a semi-controlled crash landing in a field
©2020 Barry Smith - A landing of a smaller balloon near our landing spot - basically a sheep paddock - with lots of kangaroos as well
We are back on the mountain with our own views of the valley - no balloon required.

  1. love experiencing this vicariously ... but with every intention of never, but never, experiencing it firsthand (ha!)

  2. MC, LA & P - this post seems such an age ago - time in this pandemic period seems to be stretching. MC - a buzz to enjoy at the time and look back on. LA - I'm sure you would enjoy it once up in the air. P - wow indeed. All - go well. B
