Library as a gallery

Our local library has a couple of external display alcoves and one internal wall that are made available for displays or mini exhibition by local artists or groups at not cost.

I had booked one of the display alcoves for two weeks (19 Feb - 5 March). I thought it was a good opportunity to promote my beaten metal work.

In all it took Fiona and I about an hour to choose pieces, drive to town, set up the display, and return home.

The glass shelving and lighting is quite good for polished metal. You might recognise all these pieces as those going into the Studio 4 Gallery exhibition - two outings for these pieces.

  2. What a lovely display! Your green leaves are just divine, and so is that beautiful curved (coolum shaped?) incense burner. Good luck with the sales!

  3. thats a really kind gesture from the library and it's a good idea too. i think art appreciation shouldn't be confined only to the artsy community. if more ppl learn how to appreciate art, it's never a bad thing. it's weird isn't it? i dunno about Australia but here at my place ... i dun think it even occurs to education institutions to teach the art of art appreciation. i think it's a good idea to expose children to art and it's various forms. i didn't know how to appreciate art when i was a kid simply becos no one showed me how to.

p/s ... how many different metals do you work with ... gosh ... there are so many different colors!!

  4. Barry,

A very nice display, indeed. I love the fact that your pieces seem to be floating in space due to your tube stands and the glass shelving. Wonderful space!

    Take care,
    Brian

B - agree - love the combo of tubes and glass shelves and good lighting to create floating effect. Go well. B
