On Friday I was able to do quite a bit of work on a couple of orders for leaves, bowls and
Inspiration in your pocket bits.
Today the final polishing and packaging was done. As you can see from the photos below the pieces all are all shiny and blingy.

On Monday the orders will go in three directions: locally, down south and overseas. I find a real sense of satisfaction knowing the stuff I make from metal that is discarded or seen to have no further value is reborn and goes in all direction to be valued once again and to bring a bit of joy.
Lovely pieces, Barry!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely gorgeous! there is great value in so many ways with your repurposing... because the process goes back to your searching for objects to reuse, the preparation of the metal, everything is so much more meaningful... stunning...
ReplyDeletesuch beauties B! and such lucky people to be receiving these soon :) you are indeed a crusader for discarded metal!!
ReplyDeleteYou do the same thing with your re-cycled metal that we do with our old book pages and old boxes.. create, renew, transform.
ReplyDeleteHello, Barry.
ReplyDeleteThe flexible property hides behind inside of the hard material.
The Nature is mysterious...

R, MD, L, D & R - always hard to think of our orders (commissions?) as our art but still good that they are in accord with what we do. MD& L - never saw myself as a crusader of discarded metal but in reality it is what I do - I rarely use new material - lucky that we have good junk places in Australia. D - I know the reason I am so attracted to what you do is not only because of garden envy but also because you collect stuff and you use bits with history creating new bits with layers that have meaning and mystery. R- your are correct - the metal is so hard and yet with heat and sweat it can be made pliable and create new forms - I still have heaps to learn in this area. Go well and create well. B
ReplyDeletewonderful, inspiring artworks... nature's magic reflected!
ReplyDeleteAll just gorgeous....and "blingy" is the perfect word! There is such poetry in taking the tossed away scraps and reforming them with a fresh breath of new life! Beautiful work, as always!
ReplyDeleteA great little treasure trove, off to new homes. It is lovely to imagine these pieces, with all their history, starting afresh.
ReplyDeleteI do so love your beautiful leaves!
ReplyDeletePerfect! Such a beautiful concept the way I see it; form (discarded metal is resurrected and turned into images of nature and humanistic art) = theme (the power of resurrection is essential to nature and the human spirit) <3
ReplyDeleteSomeday I hope we can see the video process of making a leaf. Also, how do you get them SO SHINEY? Just beautiful
ReplyDeleteS, P, JM, MIA, I & SZQ - can't beat nature really can we; and leaves such gorgeous variety. I have been talking to someone about creating an installation of 1500 - now that would be good to see wouldn't it. I - the breathing new life into the discarded is such a strong energy I want to-try to bring into my work. SZQ - hMMM!!! the video - I think you will just have to visit and experience the mountain and learn first hand. Go well. B
