Last Postcard from New York

Well, as they say in the classics - all good things come to an end - and so Fiona and my visit to NYC will end tomorrow. But yesterday and today were again two beautiful sunny days.

Yesterday we managed to visit the Brooklyn Museum (really an amazing eclectic social and art collection); and walked the Brooklyn Bridge. A very few of the images from both.

Today we shared the Rubin Gallery (Tibetan art) and Habu with fellow artist and blogger Mary Jane D. Again - a few images from an amazing and informative small but quality gallery with a quality collection.

Metting Mary Jane was once again one of those very comfortable and enjoyable experiences. After the introduction over a cup of coffee we felt that we were just catching up with an old friend. As indicated in earlier posts one of the strengths of meeting folk after following their blogs and vice versa on meeting them it is like you already know them. Thanks to MJ for taking the time to come up to NY to spend a few hours with us.

  2. Great photos, Barry! I love the altered pic of the Rubin Gallery skylight... it looks like a water colour painting.
Glad you were able to meet up with MJ.
Looking forward to seeing how all these impressions inform your future art. Have a safe trip home.

  3. So happy you made your way to Brooklyn and apparently had the perfect day to make your bridge crossing! We are either now due for multiple crippling snowstorms the moment you and F leave town - or we have seen the last of real winter weather in the Northeast! As I just purchased a beautiful pair of boots on sale yesterday (therefore not needing any other pairs that might be, say, left on a doorstep for me, hint, hint) I am assuming it will never snow again in my lifetime.

    Safe travels!

  4. The first photo is incredible. I've seen his work on line, but I'll bet it's unreal in realtime! So great you are connecting for REAL from this great blogging community. When are you Fiona coming to AZ!!?? I'll be your personal driver and I could be persuaded to let you use my plasma cutter! ha ha

  6. Barry,

I hope you and Fiona are back safe and sound and getting settled back in.

I've never been to the Rubin, but it's on the top of my list of things to do. The rest of the photos turned out great as well!

Gabriella and I are still in muted shock realizing that the two of you were actually here in the flesh. It seems like a dream - a very good dream!

    Take good care,
    Brian
