A stack of metal for Daily Words

Over the weekend I started a commission to make 30 Daily Words sets. Each of my  Daily Words set has a hammered bowl, 7 stamped metal words (one aspiration for each day of the week) and a small stand.

I have started cutting the metal discs for the bowls - I love the image of the edges of the  31 pieces of metal I cut.

And there are often interesting offcuts and patterns that emerge during the cutting process.

And out of the off cuts I cut the strips for the stamped words. I need 210 strips in all - the photo below shows 130 pieces - still 80+ to cut from other offcuts.

I intend to make batches of 10 Daily Words sets at a time.

  2. You are going to be busy. We will be on the Gold Coast for 2 weeks from the 30th but will be rather stuck I am afraid as Jill has just had a knee replacement and we are there as back up. Other wise I would try to get up to see you both.

  5. what a great approach to production work (something i struggle with). and good photos. i think it's very cool how hard that repurposed metal is and yet how you persuade it to become beautiful objects.

  8. Hi V, S & C - thanks for your visit and comments - positive energy to keep the creativity going. V - production work is my biggest challenge but setting myself stashes and doing things in-between means I can do it positively. And the metal always entices me. S - I'm afraid the multiples might look boring. C - I agree - seeing the metal going from the discarded to something functional and precious is a joy. All - go well with peace. B
