In an earlier post I indicated that this Friday's post would be my 500 post. To celebrate this milestone I want to give away three small gifts.

©2012 Barry Smith - 500th post giveaways |
In the photo above you can see the three give-aways:
a brass tube ring (approximately 5/8 inch internal diameter) - formerly part of a spirit camping stove; a pair of small leaves - formerly a nickel silver drink coaster and ready to be turned into earrings; and a small "tadpole" spoon.
And what do you have to do - just leave a comment. I will draw three names out of the Tibetan singing bowl on Sunday 26 September; and post the names of those who will receive the give-aways in a post that day.
Over the last few weeks Fiona and I have been looking after Fiona's dad's orchids - including one we have had to photograph for Fiona's mum at different stages of it opening. Below is a shot of it in full bloom - in our kitchen as we attempt to keep it going until Fiona's mum gets home in a few days time. Couple of close ups of the throats of the flowers. Photos taken with iPhone and not altered.

And though Fiona are not into growing orchids we do have a few natives and one of these bloomed despite our neglect.

We are attending the opening of the
Arts Connect Open Studios artist's exhibition at
Main Street Gallery in Montville this afternoon.
Great stuff Barry. Love that cattleya, our natives are just starting to flower.
ReplyDeleteWow, the orchid colors are amazing!!!!
ReplyDelete( I've already won my little leaf from you :) and I don't want to be greedy, though a lovely, generous collection your offering)
I think mine will be the first of hundreds of comments! Who would not want one of those beautiful items? Congratulations on your 500th post and on your inspiring work.
ReplyDeleteJust leave a comment ... OK so easy. Orchids!! Those I hear are tricky to grow. I'd be afraid of watching those kids! Good luck with the show and again - congrats on 500 POSTS.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 500th post! Here's hoping to another 500 wonderful posts.
ReplyDeleteWhile I'd love to win another piece of your work, it doesn't seem fair as there are 2 gracing my studio already. So please [I can't believe I"m asking this...] don't add my name to the hat.
Three lots of three of beautiful creations
ReplyDeleteHelen I
Like Jennifer I have also been lucky enough to win 2 of your beautiful creations so don't add my name to the hat. Congratulations on your 500th! That's a lot of posts!
ReplyDeletecongratulations - it is a lot of posts - and yours are always inspiring... no small feat! your giveaway is very generous and the offerings beautiful...
ReplyDeletethe orchids are beautiful and through your photographic eye, even more so...
yay for you! 500 is auspicious, indeed. i don't pay much attention to numbers, or rather they slip out of my head very easily, but i should check mine sometime.
ReplyDeleteP, VA, EM, SZQ, J, H, R MJ & V - thanks for the encouragement to go on to the next 500. P - obviously you know more about orchids than I do - I mainly know about the natives. VA - I was amazed with the stunning colours. EM - my blog is a quiet one. SZQ - Fiona and I agree - orchids hard to grow - we kill them so now leave it top to her dad. J&R - nice of you to increase the chances for others in the draw. MJ - the give-away is small compared to the rich encouragement people give in their comments and interest. V - I guess for me marking the milestones is one way for me to stay committed and just say thanks for the interest of people such as yourself who go to the trouble of commenting. Again thanks to all for your inspiration. Go well. B
