A few images from Cardiff streets including the first photos of a public sculpture that was part of a war memorial. One side of the work was a face, the other the hull of a ship and the back the structure of a boat - a very powerful work.
And there we less challenging fragments in Cardiff.
We are back in Edinburgh and there are always layers of history and forgotten bits.
We also visited a couple of public galleries in Cardiff and Edinburgh but sharing fragments from those will be for another day.
wonderful fragments here. just wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI have been to Cardiff a few times but never seen the sculpture in your first photos, its stunning.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLove the fragments. Looks as if you are both having an interesting trip. Keep the photos coming.
ReplyDeleteThat sculpture is wonderful, I'd love to see it. Thank you for this great travelogue, Barry. I'm really enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteI love these trips you take because of all the wonders that you share. What an amazing sculpture! Thank you both!
ReplyDeleteBarry,
ReplyDeleteHow can that sculpture be almost on my doorstep and I've not seen it. I feel ashamed! You must tell me where it is and I shall rectify that omission this summer.
Your ability to capture the beauty in everyday objects is so finely tuned. Thank you for sharing these photos of your trip. They are wonderful! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHi V, D, J, P, C, R, L and AA - thanks for checking out the fragments and your comments. The photos that Fiona and I end up with from a trip away are the strangest collection - rarely any peopl, not many full objects and no shots of self - we just can't be trying hard enough. V - glad you also enjoy fragments. D and L - the sculpture is on Cardiff Bay outside the assembly hall - one of the sculptural highlights of the trip. J - thanks. P, C and R - as I said in reply to I know that I'm part of a fragment and detail loving tribe that includes yourselves. Alas the trip is coming to an end - must pick out some highlights when I get home. AA - the everyday objects often have th extraordinary elements which can pass us by too easily. All - go well and enjoy the journey of each day. B
