This post simply brings together a few images from our Armadale home and our Maleny home.

A few images from 'there' - Maleny home.
So fortunate to have a here and a there and to immerse oneself in the beauty of both places.
A friend asked if I could make some cement cubes that could be used for display purpose similar to the arrangements above.
I have been mixing up a few basins of pure grey cement and pouring them into silicone moulds as you can see from the photos below.
You might also notice in the photos above a few random pieces such as hearts, coasters and candle burners in the mix. All the pieces need to be finished by sanding off the rough edges. Making the cement objects is a bit messy but also fun.
Below are three sets of cement blocks plus a couple of circles sanded and ready to be delivered.
Fiona and I had talked about installing a bit of art in one of the spaces outside G's unit. I had been gifted 5X3m lengths of rusted square rod (3X15mm square and 2X25mm square) by a friend - Fiona McCarron - part of Craig Medson's stash from days gone by. I wanted to make a simple installation that was all about the rusted metal and would sit lightly in the landscape.
The opening photograph shows the result of my thinking and cutting. I wanted to get enough lengths out of the 5 pieces to make the installation shown in the sketch below.

The installation has movement in a number of directions a gentle wave movement up and down; and a gently S movement across the installation space. The tallest piece of rod is about 1.25m out of the ground and about 20cm in the ground.

A couple more photos of the work in place. The entirety of the installation is hard to see as it blends and yet also stands out enough in the landscape. The rods have simply been hammered into the ground - I was assisted greatly by Fiona and our friend Faith - joint decision on direction of the S form and the up and down movement.

It seems fitting to have a gentle piece in the landscape that recalls the great talent of Craig and the gift of the metal by Fiona McC.
When I was doing my pre-walk exercises this morning my eyes were filled with the beauty that Fiona has brought into the house from the native trees and bushes around our home. Such an abundance as you can see from the opening and photo and the following.
Immediately outside I marvelled at how the sun was capturing the colours in the jars F was using to dye thread with petals from our neighbour's garden flowers; and later I rejoiced to see the colours of the threads themselves.
On my walk my eyes drifted to many of the types of blossoms that were also inside our home; and a few others of course.
So much beauty inside and outside our home.
Fiona and I will be in Scotland on International Peace Day (21 September) - so we will be installing peace weather grams and copper peace doves at the Armadale cottage.
But we wanted to have a peace connection between our home in Maleny and the cottage so we installed 7 peace weather grams and 7 copper peace doves in the magnolia tree out the front of our Maleny home. The opening photo a beautifully patinated copper peace dove hanging in the tree.

May these small material tokens and our thoughts send a few peace vibes out into the globe - may there be a little more peace and a little less war and violence.
A friend asked if I could make some timber cubes and 'towers' to display objects such as in the photo above.
I agreed to do the task using salvaged rough sawn rose gum timber - as you can see from the cut pieces below.
I indicated that the final products would have the worn and used look about them. In all I made 4 cubes and 4 'towers' even though only three of each are shown here. A few photos of the progress and finished pieces follow.
Not art as such - but beautiful all the same.
