Moon rising and setting, sunrise and iPhone magic

As the title suggests this blog post is a mixed bag of moon, sun and blossoms. The opening and following photos are the moon rising - not quite full. The setting sun adding a glow to the tree branches.

The moon setting this morning.

The sun colouring the sky this morning. Two different time periods - one earlier front the front door and later on my walk along tamarind Street.

And me playing with the camera on the iPhone to capture the beauty of a few blossoms.

Pausing to soak in and record beauty lifts my spirit.

Stars, blossoms and moon in the morning.

One of the pleasures of a clear cold winter morning is the stars glowing in the low morning light as you can see from the photo above and below.

On my morning walk I was a bit surprised to see that there are still quite a few beautiful blossoms despite the winter.

On Monday morning I was surprised to see a beautiful saucer moon fragment before and during early sunrise.

Yes there are still fragments of beauty to shine a little hope and joy on this broken world.

Moon - glorious

Fiona and I were extremely fortunate to see the eclipse of the moon last night - from start to finish. We saw much of it in a clear sky - at times cloud drifted across - but even that made for some interesting light. The opening photo highlights the full beauty of the stars and eclipsed red moon.

The iPhone is not the best camera for taking moon photos but the images taken do show the progress of the eclipse and hint at the beauty of the red moon at the end. The sequence starts with the rising moon through the trees.

Looking up and out last night reminded us of the beauty that still can surround us even in these crazy war times.

Away - moods of the moon

Fiona and I went to the coast for a few days to celebrate my birthday and life etc. Our unit had a deck that looked out across a river and the sea. When sitting out having dinner and/or a wine we enjoyed nightly moon shows. The photos in this blog are in a bit of a random order - though those from the last night tend to come first.

Photographing the moon with the telephoto lens of the iPhone can be a bit random - but what is not to love about moody photo of the moon?

Some quirky eclipse moonshots

Fiona and I enjoyed the eclipse of the moon on Tuesday night - an unexpected clear night after an afternoon rain shower. We thought there would be cloud for sure.

Just sharing a few photos from the iPhone (above - fully eclipsed and below - half eclipsed).

A a few by either Fiona or myself on the not so great Canon Powershot. First two - partial eclipse; and last two fully eclipsed.

The viewing was-is memorable.

Moon, butterfly in flight and other fragments

Of course I would have to post a couple of photos of this current moon. I woke at 4am to the moonlight creeping into the bedroom so decided on a photo. Then I took a few more over the next couple of hours as it began to set.

I was down in the garden watering yesterday and had this butterfly companion - I managed to take this photo of it in flight.

The walk this morning offered some fragments and layers.

There were a few new orchids on show in G's orchid house - all the same variety but different colours.
