Starting to assemble Post 37

Whilst we have been spending any fine moments in the garden installing tree surrounds, weeding, trimming and mulching; I have grab a few hours in the studio-workshop aka garden shed to make a start on attaching the various elements to the post as per the photo above (cloths line shadow across the post)  and the assemblage plan in the notebook below.

A few images of the post so far - keep in mind the post needs to be bolted to the fence strainer post that will run up the centre of the post between the items I'm attaching.

Some photos of the detail - hard to photograph in the cramped confines of the wee shed. All the nails will rust once the post is out in the weather as hey are not coated or galvanised.

I'm hoping to finish the post next week.

  1. I confess to being intrigued by the rusted handle and wonder at its original purpose ... likewise the rusted knobs ... fascinating

  2. Hi LA - not sure of the rusted handle as the owner did not know; the rusted knobs were cut from an adjustable strut for an old tractor. I have had to incorporate quite a number of odd and largish pieces in this family history post. Thanks for your comment. Cheers. B
