I'm back in the workshop working on the other two posts (timber monoliths) for Faith's installation. Sanding and routing grooves into the timber; and then staining the grooves with good quality black Japanese ink.
Faith wants the posts to have an aged look so the sanding is only being done to remove rubbish, rotted sections and with a coarse grit sand paper so that it adds texture to complement the saw marks left on the posts by the milling done in the paddock. Saw marks and inked groove on the shortest post - it will be about 1m out of the gravel.
Making the best use of a natural groove in the post.
Inking up the natural groove.
after reading all the way through, I went back and couldn't help seeing a laceration in the natural groove of the third image ... may you soon heal up (lacerations are my weak spot ... which wasn't a good thing when I was a volunteer EMT many years ago ... ha!)
ReplyDelete(((Barry))) your weathered posts are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteKeep working on your creations. Watch your finger around saws etc.

Hi LA, MC and T - thanks for your visitant comments - always appreciated. LA - the laceration was not good - quite jagged and ran in a couple of directions - almost healed now. MC - weathered timber and rust!!! T - Thanks - it was rusty metal that did the damage. Cheers. B
