Stones and marks

We have been enjoying morning walks to the fishing cove at the end of the village. There is a reasonably steep walk down into the cove where there is a stone ‘beach’. It really is a stone persons heaven.

The single black stone - which will become dark  grey as it dries - I hope to carve into though I think it will be very hard granite.

Another bit of rust with stones below.

  1. it seems Scotland has saved some very choice bits for your return ... once upon a time we would gather cobbles on a Shelter Island beach and put them in our minivan to bring them home to Virginia where we lined a dry rivulet that wound through the front of our yard ... harder to do when your flying, no doubt

I'm trying to imagine what the metal bit at the end is ... it looks purpose-full, but detached from the context that would give it meaning ... some sort of window opening mechanism perhaps???
