The work on Faith's sculpture garden is progressing. We have done the edging, laid the gravel and now installed the first couple of sculpture pieces.
The first of the three posts has been installed. Photo of the couple of rusty cogs above; and a few other photos follow.
We have also installed a small group of patinated copper leaves on aluminium stems.
The other two posts will be made and installed over the coming weeks.
Fiona and I are getting our stuff together for a pop-up poster shop at the Communities in Control Conference. A significant focus of the conference will be on inequality, injustice to and violence against women and the systems that support the status-quo.
On sale will be many of Fiona's feminist, justice and DV related posters; and my posters on patriarchy.
One appalling stat that is put out by the United Nations is that one in three women and girls will experience violence during their lives. This new A5 poster of mine above reflects this totally abhorrent and unacceptable behaviour.
And while I'm on stats - it just staggers me that in Australia every 2 minutes a woman is desperate enough to take the risk to ring the police to report DV - and yet we still don't take this matter seriously enough to stamp it out.
The third poster in this series simply asks "why won't he stop (being violent)?" - simple answer - that would mean he would have to accept the woman as his equal and give up power and control.
The light was grey when I set out this morning with just a tinge of sunlight beginning to show through - perfect for highlighting the above web against a blue-grey sky - delicate drops suspended.
It seemed to be a morning for wild life - a lot of magpies and wallabies quietly filling suburbia; and yes the wallaby on its own had a little Joey onboard.
The blossoms were there for smiles.
No new orchids in G's house but this purple one continues to glow.
I printed two small domestic violence related posters yesterday; and today I managed to finish the largest of the three posts I have been commissioned to do.
Rust and inked lines are two design features of the post. The photo above is before shot of setting out some rusted washers.
The photos below show setting out of one the four faces; some details; and the completed post. The rusted metal is attached to the post using horseshoe nails - these will rust quite quickly and be another design feature. This post is currently 1.6m high; but will be set into the ground and gravel by about 100mm-150mm.

I was really pleased to find that my Precious Library of Peace is being featured in a great exhibition in the Queensland State Library (QSL) as part of their new acquisitions exhibition.
This artists' book was created to recognise the importance of International Peace Day on the 21 September each year. There are 21 silver-plated books in the 'library' all stamped with quotes and peace words. It was such a joy to me that the work was acquired by the QSL and therefor as part of its collection it will be available to the public for many years to come; and hopefully inspire folk to create peace.

Overnight we had some light rain - G's orchid house is awash with colour and raindrop encrusted orchids.
